Study on new technology of  smelting natural sulfur mine by sublimation method

Abstract: The research employed the sublimation method for sulfur refining.The optimum reaction conditions:furnace temperature was maintain at 500 ℃,the amount of sublimed sulfur was about 8 kg/(m2·h),and the material stayed in the furnace for about 15 min.The rate of sulfur sublimation was up to 99%,while the content of sulfur in residue was under 1%(mass fraction).This method could totally separate sulfur from the residue.Three-section condenser can be used to recycle sulfur vapour. A condenser to recover the liquid sulfur,the other two condensers to recover the solid sulfur.Liquid sulfur after natural precipitation treatment,the sulfur grade could be up to 99.5% or more.This method not only can handle rich ore,but also can process powder ore and lean ore,with the characteristics of simple operation,good labor condition, and better than the cooking method.Therefore,it has good economic and social benefits.
