Abstract: Aiming at the pulverous magnesite tailings，a new process，refining-briquetting-sintering，was introduced to pro- duce high purity magnesia products.In refining process of magnesite，the use of briquetting additive could preserve the profile of magnesite pelletizing，which solved the problem of ventilation blockage in shaft kiln due to the pulverization of large amount of pelletizings.The prepared magnesia showed 10 times drop in impact test from 0.5 m，the activity of powders was below 230 s and the loss on ignition was below 0.1%.
