Study on storage period of chromite sinter leaching residue used as filler material in lime free alkali roasting process

Abstract: The effects of storage period of filler material coming from separated chromite sinter leaching residue on the lime free alkali roasting process of chromite ore were investigated.Results showed that the roasting activity and filler performance of the separated leaching residue used as filler material in chromite ore oxidation roasting process were enhanced with the increasing of storage period.Under the same batching and roasting conditions,the concentration of free alkali in sinter cake decreased,while the water soluble chromate content and the stable running time of rotary kiln both increased with the filler material′s storage period prolonged.According to chromate production practice with lime free roasting process,the suitable storage period of filler material was 6~8 months.
