Abstract:

The quality of crystalline products in the wet desulfurization of carbide slag directly affects the subsequent resource utilization of desulfurization gypsum. In this work, the effects of pH,oxidation time and calcium carbide slag particle size on the water content, sulfite content, mineral phase composition, and microscopic morphology of crystalline products in calcium carbide slag wet desulfurization were systematically investigated. The results showed that high pH limited the contact between CaSO3 and dissolved oxygen. The pH was 4.00~4.50,the oxidation effect of CaSO3 was the best.In the initial stage, the oxidation rate was significantly influenced by time and the oxidation rate was leveled after 6 h.Too large particle size of calcium carbide slag was led to the surface area decreased, which reduced the contact area between CaSO3 and dissolved oxygen, and too small particle size was prone to electrostatic agglomeration when generating CaSO3,resulting in larger particle size and lower oxidation rate. Therefore, when the particle size of carbide slag is 75.00~93.75 μm,the pH is 4.0 and the oxidation time is 6 h,the crystallization effect of the product(calcium sulfate dihydrate) is the best.
