Abstract:

The spirit-based distillers′grains were used as reducing agents to reduce, magnetize and roast red mud to prepare magnetically recyclable red mud materials. And rare earth metal lanthanum was further used to prepare lanthanum-loaded magnetized red mud for phosphorus removal in water. The samples before and after modification were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),Vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The results showed that the red mud had been successfully magnetized and lanthanum-loaded,and magnetic properties of the modified red mud was increased by 3.85 times. When the initial concentration of phosphate was 50 mg/Land the amount of adsorbent was 4 g/L,the equilibrium adsorption capacity was 12.31 mg/g after the treatment of the lanthanum-loaded magnetized red mud at room temperature, which was 6.62 times that of RM.The results indicated that the lanthanum-loaded magnetized red mud had good selectivity for phosphorus in water and was easy to recover. The adsorption process of phosphorus was in line with the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model and pseudo-second-order kinetic equation, which was a process of spontaneous endothermic entropy increase.
