Abstract:

To improve the visible light utilization of TiO2/activated carbon composite material,Ag-doped TiO2/ activated car-bon composite photocatalyst was prepared based on the sol-gel method.A series of analysis methods were used to characterize the photocatalyst, and its photocatalytic activity was studied through the degradation effect of methylene blue and Cr(Ⅵ)wastewater. The results showed that the Ag-doped material had improved adsorption performance and photocatalytic perfor-mance under visible light. When the material dosage was 400 mg/L,the degradation rate of 10 mg/L MB solution by Ag-TiO2/AC composite photocatalyst was 98.55% within 30 min,and the degradation rates of 20 mg/L MB solution and 10 mg/L Cr(Ⅵ)solution reached 76.92% and 53.90% within 60 min respectively.Compared with the undoped materials, the degradation rates increased by 14%,47% and 137%,respectively.This was because Ag nanoparticles could effectively capture valence electrons and reduce the recombination of electrons and holes, thus improving the photocatalytic effect.
