Abstract: In recent years, magnetic adsorbent material has unique advantages in industrial water treatment owe to its easy re-cyclicity.Magnetic ferriferrous oxide(Fe3O4),as adsorption material, was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis with ferrous sul- fate and urea as raw materials in water and glycerol mixed solvent system.As-prepared ferriferrous oxide was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),while its adsorption performance of for divalent lead ions (Pb2+) was also studied. The results showed that pure ferriferrous oxide was obtained, the amount of glycerol had a great effect on the morphology of ferriferrous oxide, and ferriferrous oxide had the best adsorption performance on Pb2+ when added 8 mL of glycerol.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR spectrum) displayed that there was chemical interaction between ferriferrous oxide and Pb2+.Ferriferrous oxide is easy to recover and has an excellent adsorption performance for removal of heavy metal ions. Therefore,it has a good prospect in industrial water treatment.
