Abstract: The valuable metals of Cu and Cd were extracted from copper/cadmium residue by taking advantaging of their large difference of redox potential with Zn.Results showed that, the copper sponge of a higher quality was separated firstly under the conditions, such as extraction temperature of 50 ℃,H2SO4 mass fraction of 17 %,and liquid-solid mass ratio(mL/g) of 4∶1.A two-stage process was used in the reduction of Cd.In the first stage,Zn powder was added continuously for about 20 min and it adding amount was controlled at 90% of theoretical amount; In the second stage,99.6% of Cd was removed from the solution while the Zn adding amount was 1.2~1.3 times of the theoretical amount. The solution of ZnSO4 after removing of Co and Cd could meet the requirement of electrolytic Zn process.
