Abstract: With nickel sulfate as raw material, the effects of different kinds of catalyst on the preparation of ultrafine nickel powder by liquid phase hydrogen reduction process were studied.Especially, the influence of dosage of catalyst on the reduction rate was mainly investigated. Results showed that catalyst could accelerate the reaction, shorten the reaction time, and improve the rate of reducing Ni(OH)2  slurry into metal nickel per unit time.Experimental comparison results of four kinds of catalysts, namely active nickel powder,PdCl2,RuCl3,and anthraquinone, showed the hydrogen reduction reaction of nickel sulfate in liquid phase could reaching the highest reduction rate in the shortest time when PdCl2 with mass concentration of 10 mg/L was used.
