Abstract: There are numerous salt lakes that rich in mineral resources in China.Different techniques have been chosen for utilizing these mineral rich salt lakes on the basis of their locations and local climates. These salt lakes are primarily classified into three types based on their hydrochemistry characteristics,i.e.carbonate-type,sulfate-type,and chloride-type.The brine from each type of salt lakes has its unique phase diagram, and thus unique mineral assemblages.Much work has been done on the brine evaporation experiments for every type of salt lakes in China, and a lot of  progress has been achieved. The previous studies on the evaporation of brines from all three types of salt lakes were summarized, and their evaporation law and subsequent mineral characteristics were analyzed,so as to provide reference for those who engaged in the brine evaporation experiments.
