Abstract: Fan-like nano-sized zinc oxide were synthesized by hydrothermal process，using egg albumin as nanoreactor and polyvinylpyrrolidone（PVP） as stabilizer.The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction（XRD），scanning electron microscope（SEM），transmission electron microscopy（(TEM），Fourier transform infrared（FT-IR），and ultraviolet visual（UV-Vis） spectroscopy.The photocatalytic activity of the sample was also investigated by degradation of methyl orange. Furthermore，the formation mechanism of fan-like nano-sized zinc oxide was discussed in detail.Results showed that the method is a facile，effective way to synthesize fan-like nano-sized zinc oxide material and the obtained product has a good photocatalytic activity.
