Abstract: Technological process of producing sulfur by reduction reaction between low-grade pyrite and inferior high-sulfur coal in a two-stage fluidized bed was studied.Technology realized the effective utilization of resources, because it used the sulfur and iron resources in low-grade pyrite and the coal and sulfur resources in the high-sulfur coal to produce sulfur and reduced iron powder. It overcame the pollution problems of mine tailings generated from the production process of pyrite concentrate by flotation of 17%~20% pyrite (mass fraction) and it compensate the deficiency of pyrite concentrate production process.Sulfur product from the pilot plant reached the national standard GB/T 2449—2006 Sulphur for Industrial Use,and the by-product contained more than 60% (mass fraction) iron ore powder, which was an excellent raw material for steel-making.This research was in line with the circular economy law and maximized the utilization of resources. It was also an effective way to find resources and to make up China′s shortage of sulfur and iron resources. 
