Progress in preparation of lithium hexafluorophosphate electrolyte and analysis on difficulties thereof

Abstract: Lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) is a kind of electrolyte that is widely used in secondary lithium ion battery. But the preparation is very difficult because of the requirement of high purity.Present preparation methods,such as gas-solid method,solvent method,and ion exchange method,of lithium hexafluorophosphate were summarized.It was believed that the method using ether or ester as synthesis solvent will be the most promising technology in the future due to its advantages of little corrosion,low toxicity,and easy separation and purification operation etc..Meanwhile,the difficulties of preparation were also analyzed.
