Abstract:

In KCl flotation, the froth properties of frother have an important impact on the flotation. In order to investigate the froth properties of dipropylene glycol butyl ether(DPNB) in saturated brine, dynamic foam analyzer DFA-100 was used to study the effects of air flow and temperature on froth stability and froth entrainment process of DPNB.The results showed that with the increase of air flow, the dynamic stability of froth was increased firstly and then decreased, while the superficial liquid entrainment velocity(Je) was increased gradually. When the air flow was 0.3 L/min,DPNB could produce enough froth with best stability. The Je was increased by 12.64 mm/s with the air flow increasing from 0.2 L/min to 0.5 L/min.Besides,with the increase of temperature, the dynamic stability of froth was increased firstly and then decreased, getting to maximum at 298 K,while the entrainment rate was decreased gradually. Therefore, when DPNB was used for KCl flotation,it could produce stable foam under the condition of 0.3 L/min air flow and 298 K,and could effectively reduce the water recovery rate, which was conducive to ensuring better flotation recovery rate and concentrate grade.
