Research progress on preparation of magnesium aluminate spinel powders and it in field of luminescent material

Abstract:

As a promising green and environmental friendly inorganic functional material,magnesia alumina spinel has attracted extensive attention because of its excellent performance and low price.On the basis of summarizing the basic structure and characteristics of magnesium aluminum spinel,the main preparation methods of magnesium aluminum spinel powder and its research progress in the field of luminescent materials were reviewed.Compared with the traditional solid phase and combustion methods,the environmentally friendly hydrothermal synthesis technology in the liquid phase method had advantages in the preparation of nano?sized magnesia alumina spinel functional powders with special morphology.In addition,the fluorescent properties of rare earth and transition element ion doped MgAl2O4 luminescent materials were analyzed,and it was pointed out that the up conversion luminescence of rare earth doped MgAl2O4 needed further research to adapt to its application in biomedicine.The transition element ion doped MgAl2O4 luminescent material was expected to be a promising solid laser material due to its bright color performance.
