Abstract:

The effect of regeneration temperature, regeneration time, and regeneration frequency on the regeneration efficiency of waste activated carbon(WAC) was studied by high-temperature pyrolysis method, using methylene blue adsorption amount and iodine value as evaluation indicators, using powdered activated carbon(WAC) decolorized with tributyl phosphate(TBP) as the materials. The experimental results showed that the optimal regeneration condition of activated carbon was 500 ℃ for 90 min. After the fourth regeneration, the adsorption properties of 82% methylene blue and 67% iodine could be recovered. The weight loss, heat absorption and heat release of activated carbon during pyrolysis were analyzed by TG-DSC,and the activated carbon before and after regeneration were characterized by the specific surface area and aperture analyzer,FT-IR,SEM and other testing methods to verify its regeneration effect. This research gave a comprehensive analysis of the pyrolysis mechanism of spent activated carbon, which provided theoretical guidance for the pyrolysis regeneration of decolorized activated carbon from TBP in a wet phosphoric acid purification process.
