Research progress on application of ionic liquids in extracting lithium from salt lakes

Abstract:

The efficient and clean extraction of lithium from salt lakes brine with high Mg/Li ratio is of great significance to ensure the high-quality development of China′s lithium industry.Solvent extraction is widely used in extracting lithium from salt lakes,but the environmental pollution is serious and corrosion of equipment is heavy.Recently,as green solvent,ionic liquids have been widely used in the research of extraction of lithium from salt lakes brine with great research progress,how-ever,there are still some drawbacks such as high viscositythe loss of ionic liquids during the extraction,and the lack of in-depth study on extraction mechanism.The research progress of ionic liquids used for lithium extraction from salt lakes was reviewed.The research status of different ionic liquids used as extractants,co-extractants and diluents in the extraction process was introduced.Finally,the research prospect of ionic liquids for lithium extraction from salt lakes was prospected.It was proposed that the development of new ionic liquids and the establishment and optimization of new extraction processes would be the future development direction.
