Abstract: It was found that the nickel content of commercially available basic nickel carbonate, could not meet the requirement while the determination was on the basis of National Standard Industrial Nickel Carbonate(GB/T 26521—2011). Through the comparing study with the Industrial Standard,Industrial Nickel Sulfate(HG/T 2824—2009),it could be found that testing reagent, dosage, and the experimental conditions of the two standards were all the same except the samples to be tested. But the content of nickel in the nickel carbonate was different from that in the nickel sulfate. The revising and improving methods and suggestions for GB/T 26521—2011 were put forward by means of theoretical analysis and experimental verification on the dosages of hydrochloric acid and dimethylglyoxime.

Key words: industrial nickel carbonate, national standard, dimethylglyoxime, hydrochloric acid
