Abstract: In order to effectively utilize various valuable elements in the insoluble potassium contained shale[the main co- mponents are K(AlSi3O8) and  iron compounds etc.],the ammonium fluoride was used to make the insoluble potassium co- ntained shale into acid soluble matters for further production of potassium sulfate and other products. The process comprises the following steps:1)Pretreatment of the insoluble potassium contained shale;2)Deal with insoluble potassium contained shale by ammonium  fluoride;3)Filtration of the products after processing of ammonium fluoride;4)Acidolysis after ammonium fluoride solution;5)Water soluble after sulfuric acid treatment;6)Adjust the pH to get potassium sulfate solution by grading precipitation;7)Regeneration and reuse of ammonium fluoride solution. The new technology was characterized by a low temperature, easy control, and high reaction yield.Furthermore, ammonium fluoride could be recycled, valuable elements in the insoluble potassium-contained shale were comprehensively utilized, and the production costs of various products were effectively reduced, thereby the technology had a good economic benefit.
