Abstract: Using industrial solid waste rock crystal as raw material, cerium dioxide was extracted through the separation from silica with a certain method. In this way, the problem of waste dump could be effectively solved and rock crystal could be changed into resource. After separation, cerium dioxide was purified with ammonia as precipitator.Influences of concentration of ammonia, setting time,pH,calcining temperature, and calcining time on purity and quality of cerium dioxide were investigated. Results indicated when the ammonia concentration was 6 mol/L,pH=8,setting time was 30 min, calcining temperature was 450 ℃,and calcining time was 2 h,the content of the obtained cerium dioxide was near to actual value of the raw material.
