Abstract:

Using ferric nitrate, coal gangue and sodium hydroxide as the raw materials,α-Fe2O3/coal gangue composite photoc-atalysts with different mass ratios of α-Fe2O3 were successfully prepared by boiling reflux method.Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),X-ray powder diffraction(XRD) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra(UV-Vis DRS) were used to characterize the products. The photocatalytic activity of as-prepared samples was investigated for degradation of pentachlorophenol under simulated sunlight. The results indicated that loading spherical α-Fe2O3 composite on the surface of modified coal gangue could effectively improve its catalytic activity, and there was a close relationship between the photocatalytic performance of α-Fe2O3/coal gangue composites and the content of α-Fe2O3.When the mass ratio of α-Fe2O3 to coal gangue was 30∶100,α-Fe2O3/coal gangue composite photocatalyst showed the highest performance and pentachlorophenol was almost completely degraded within 180 min.In addition, this kind of catalyst could be used repeatedly.
