Abstract: The phase composition and relative content of gangue minerals of tailings from Jinchuan Company were characteri- zed by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD).The dissolution conditions of minerals in sulfuric acid were thermodynamically calculated and analyzed. Then, the optimum technological conditions of leaching of Ni from the tailings were obtained by orthogonal experiments: mass ratio of sulfuric acid to mineral was 0.9∶1,mass ratio of liquid/solid was 2∶1,reaction temperature was 90 ℃,and reaction time was 4 h.Under these conditions, the leaching rate of Ni could reach 93.3%,serpentine and dolomite can be completely dissolved and a large amount of amorphous SiO2 were generated.
