Overview on recycling of waste activated alumina in production of hydrogen peroxide by anthraquinone process

Abstract:

In the production of hydrogen peroxide by anthraquinone process,activated alumina is widely used as the regenerant of anthraquinone degradation products.However,activated alumina is easily deactivated and a large amount of solid waste is formed,which is a difficult problem for hydrogen peroxide production enterprises.By calcination and impregnation,the waste activated alumina can be reused and the amount of solid waste can be reduced effectively.The waste activated alumina can also be used as aluminum source to produce water treatment agent,α-alumina and other products.The research reports on the recovery and utilization of waste activated alumina in hydrogen peroxide production in recent years were reviewed,and the advances in the composition of waste activated alumina,the regeneration process and the recovery of alumina to produce other products were summarized.
