Research on sulfuric acid modified Hβ zeolite catalyst for esterification

Abstract: Due to its high activity,selectivity,easy separation,renewable,and no environmental pollution etc.,zeolites have been widely used in petroleum refining,petrochemical,and fine organic synthesis industrial production.The n-butyl oleate has a wide range of applications as an important of organic chemical product.Therefore,the research on the synthesis of n-butyl oleate by Hβ zeolite catalyst had great significance.The n-butyl oleate was synthesized with oleic acid and n-butanol as raw materials and with sulfuric acid-modified Hβ zeolite as catalyst.Effects of sulfuric acid concentration,treatment time,calcination temperature,and calcination time on the conversion rate of oleic acid were investigated,and the optimal sulfuric acid modification conditions were founded:the acid concentration was 0.1 mol/L,the acid treatment time was 3 h,the acid treatment temperature was 80 ℃,the calcination temperature was 550 ℃,and the calcination time was 5 h.Under those conditions,the oleic acid conversion rate reached 58.8%.
