Abstract: During the initial period of the startup of 0.6 Mt/a para-xylene combination unit in SINOPEC Hainan Refining & Chemical Co.,Ltd,reforming devices adopted clay to remove olefins in reforming generation oil.The treatment of raw oil was only 234 t per 1 t clay. The estimate of annual clay consumption was up to 3 077 t.Frequent renewal of clay produced a solid waste in large quantities and high labor intensity of workers. TCDTO-1 refining agent, compared with clay, had the characteristics of long single cycle life, high rate of olefins removal, repeated regeneration, and environmental protection. Therefore, the refining agent was used to replace activated clay.On the first trial in a single-tower,the single cycle life was 103 d.The treatment of raw of single cycle added up to 3 420 t per 1 t refining agent, about 14.6 times more than clay.Based on the problem that the deactivated rate of refining agent was fast in the middle and later periods of running, the research analyzed that colloid and non aromatic content were high in reforming generation oil.Combined with the features of refining agent and device itself,it was pointed out the operational mode of twin towers in series, using‘deactivated refining agent+fresh refining agent’mode. The devices operated well after improved.
