Abstract:

In order to solve the problem of long time, high cost and difficult crystal control for the preparation of flake-like calcium carbonate, the morphology control agent of lithium chloride was added to the complex decomposition reaction of calcium chloride and ammonium bicarbonate to prepare flake-like calcite-type calcium carbonate. The effects of reaction temperature, concentration of reactants, droplet acceleration rate of ammonium bicarbonate, concentration of lithium chloride and aging time on both morphology and crystal form of calcium carbonate were investigated. The product was characterized and applied to white cardboard coating, and the formation mechanism of flake-like calcium carbonate was also discussed. The results showed that under optimal reaction conditions, when the molar ratio of n(CaCl2)∶n(NH4HCO3) was 1∶1,the stirring rate was 450 r/min,the reaction temperature was 20 ℃,the concentration of CaCl2 and NH4HCO3 were all 0.45 mol/L,the concentration of lithium chloride was 1.250 mol/L,and the drip acceleration rate of ammonium bicarbonate of 19.2 mL/min and an aging time of 48 hours, the prepared flake-like calcite-type calcite calcium carbonate had a thickness of 2 μm and a diameter of 35~45 μm.Lithium chloride can inhibit the growth of specific crystal planes by adsorption on the surface of calcium carbonate or entering the gap of calcium carbonate, and promote the growth of flake.Lithium chloride filtrate can be recycled after proper supplementation. When it was used to coat white card paper,it was found that flake calcium carbonate could improve the whiteness, gloss and smoothness of coated white card paper.
