Abstract: Research on the layered sodium silicate from the aspects of crystal structure，preparation technology， intercalation modification，and application was fully introduced.The multiple crystal phases and structural features of layered sodium silicate were reviewed.Technical problems during spray drying process and hydrothermal process for preparation of layered sodium silicate were indicated.Intercalation modification technology was introduced from the angle of reaction types，and the modified layered sodium silicate was endowed with abundant and special properties.The research thinking and problems for the application of different crystal phases and modification techniques in practice were analyzed，which provided a research direction for the deep research and development of layered sodium silicate.
