Abstract: Carbonthermal reduction of calcium sulfate heated by microwave with pulverized coal as  reductant was studied. Results showed that the decomposition rate of calcium sulfate could reach 98.53% while the amount-of-substance ratio of carbon to sulfur was 0.6,the reaction temperature was 1 200 ℃,and reaction time was 10 min.The fluxing agent silica  enhanced the reaction rate in solid state.Doping graphite powder could not only bring down the reaction temperature, but also reduced the reaction time.It was obvious that the reaction rate of calcium sulfate in microwave field was higher than that in normal situation.
