Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide was oxidized to sulfur selectively when the hydrogen sulfide, which escaped from acid leaching process of strontium carbonate residue, and air were absorbed by ferric nitrate solution.Ferric nitrate solution could be reused. After experiments, the preferable conditions were obtained:the concentration of ferric nitrate was 0.5 mol/L and temperature was 30 ℃.Under those conditions, the purity of sulfur was 99.38%,for per gram sulfur, the loss amount of ferric nitrate (calculated as Fe2O3) was 0.013 7 g.Because of simple process and easily-controllable conditions, this is a promising way to deal with hydrogen sulfide in acid leaching process of strontium carbonate residue.
