Abstract:

Lithium rich brines from Qinghai Salt Lake Fozhao Lanke Lithium Co.,Ltd.were used as raw materials to react with sodium carbonate solution to study the lithium deposition process. The phenomenon of peritectic precipitation was likely to occur during the lithium precipitation process, meant that sodium chloride and sodium carbonate crystallites encapsulated in lithium carbonate crystals during the production process. The purity of lithium carbonate products, and the contents of impurities, such as sodium, magnesium, chlorine and boron, were detected. The morphology and particle size of products were characterized. The influences of reaction temperature, the concentration of sodium carbonate, the feeding method, the stirring rate, and the amount of sodium carbonate on the purity and impurities of lithium carbonate and on the peritectic phenomena were investigated. The relationship between the reaction conditions and the peritectic phenomenon was explored, providing a theoretical basis for the production of battery grade lithium carbonate.
