Preparation and characterization of lithium ion sieve nanofibrous adsorbents

Abstract: The lithium ion sieve-loaded nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning.The effects of the mix ratios of poly- acrylonitrile(PAN) and Li1.6Mn1.6O4 precursor on the lithium adsorption capacity of nanofibrous adsorbents were investigated. The morphology and specific surface of nanofibrous adsorbents were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and BET nitrogen adsorption method.The larger specific surface area and better lithium adsorption capacity of nanofibrous adsorbents were observed and the lithium ion sieve nanofibrous adsorbents showed an adsorption capacity of 13.6 mg/g when immersed in 10 mg/L lithium chloride solution under the conditions of PAN 7%(mass fraction) and Li1.6Mn1.6O4 10%(mass fraction).The lithium ion sieve nanofibrous adsorbents developed in the study have overcome the defects of the powder-type adsorbents and it′s an important reference for the realization of extracting lithium from seawater.
