Abstract: According to the characteristics of zinc oxide being easily soluble in ammonia-ammonium bicarbonate mixed solu- tion of to generate ammonia zinc complexes, basic zinc carbonate was prepared by pulping, high shear emulsification, adding ammonia-ammonium bicarbonate leaching solution, impurity precipitation, zinc dust replacement, and ammonia evaporation by pyrolysis with the spent zinc containing catalyst as raw material. The effects of shear rate of high shear emulsifying machine, reaction temperature,pH of lixiviant, and leaching time on the zinc leaching rate were investigated. Results showed that the leaching rate of zinc can reach more than 90% under the following experimental conditions:shear rate was 25 000 r/min,the reaction temperature was 328 K,the pH of lixiviant was 7.5,and the leaching time was 2 h,the quality of basic zinc carbonate can exceed the requirement of ministerial standards of Basic Zinc Carbonate for Industrial Use(HG/T 2523—2007).This study makes a comprehensive utilization of spent catalyst containing zinc without secondary pollution, meeting the requirements of clean production and rational utilization of resources.
