Influence of lithium content on electrochemical properties of Li1.2Mn0.6Ni0.2O2 material

Abstract: Manganese enriched cathode material Li1.2Mn0.6Ni0.2O2 was synthesized by high temperature solid state method using Li2CO3 and spheroidal precursor-Mn0.6Ni0.2(OH)1.6 as raw materials.The structures and morphologies of products were characterized by XRD and SEM.Their electrochemical performances were also investigated.Results showed that when the lithium salt dosage was excess of 4%,the synthesized Li1.2Mn0.6Ni0.2O2  presented the most complete crystal structure,the most perfect spherical shape and showed excellent electrochemical performance.The initial discharge capacity reached 250.7 mA·h/g and 235.2 mA·h/g at the rates of 0.2 C and 1.0 C,respectively.The capacity retention at 1.0 C was 86.86% after 50 charge/discharge cycles.
