Current situation and development of precursors for LiMn2O4 cathode used in lithium ion batteries

Abstract:

The structures and properties of LiMn2O4,which is used as cathode material for lithium ion battery,is greatly effected by its precursors.The characteristics and production technologies of common precursors for LiMn2O4 cathode were summarized.It was pointed out that MnO2 is still the most used precursor for LiMn2O4 at present and proper bulk doping is an effective way to improve its properties.Spherical Mn3O4 has broad application prospect in preparation of high performance LiMn2O4.The competitiveness of spherical Mn3O4 in the field of lithium ion batteries will be certainly enhanced by improving production technology as well reducing cost.
