Abstract:

Chlorine dioxide has been widely used as a kind of high effective broad-spectrum and disinfectant. However,it is difficult to be prepared to stable formulations because of its active properties, which limits its application and promotion. The chemical properties and effects of pH,light, temperature and chlorinated substance to the stability of chlorine dioxide were reviewed. It is pointed out that ClO2 cannot exist stably in water. It can only slow down the decomposition and disproportionation process by adjusting the environmental conditions or use the principle of equilibrium to keep the concentration stable, which provides a theoretical basis for the development of high purity and ready-to-use stable ClO2 products. On this basis, the kinetics of ClO2 conversion should be further studied, and methods such as complexation should be tried to improve the stability of ClO2 related products.
