Abstract: The development process in terms of production technology，process equipment，product quality，industrial scale， market，and price of Chinese akali sulphide industry since its birth in 1925 was introduced.According to the demands on the environment，it was pointed out that China′s current prevailing technology，i.e.，‘reduction of thenardite by pulverized coal at high temperature’for production of akali sulphide will eventually become obsolete and ‘thenardite solution electrolysis process’will become the prevailing one theoretically.Moreover，the development trend of akali sulphide industry in the future was also prospected.
