Abstract: Present status of the production technology of precipitated barium sulfate in China was summarized. Each produc- tion method was introduced in detail，and their characteristics were analyzed.It was pointed out that the development prospect of precipitated barium sulfate industry in China is to accelerate technology development，to achieve cleaner production，and to make the product structure adjustment according to different industries; reasonable use of barite mines， energy saving and emission reduction，comprehensive utilization，and fine-and-deep-processing are the fundamental for sustainable develop- ment of Chinese barium sulfate industry. At last，several suggestions for the development of the Chinese barium sulfate in- dustry were put forward. It was pointed out that barium sulfate enterprises in China should make full use of the advantages of raw material resources to build the industry bigger and stronger.
