Abstract

Propane dehydrogenation(PDH) is an industrial technology for direct propylene production, which has received extensive attention and realized large-scale application. At present, the commercial platinum-based catalysts suffer from fast deactivation and inferior stability resulting from active species sintering and coke depositing.Based on the above problems, the reaction kinetics and active sites of the platinum based catalysts for propane dehydrogenation were analyzed, and it was pointed out that dispersion and stability of Pt nanoclusters were the key factors affecting the dehydrogenation performance. Then the strategies to improve the stability of the platinum-based propane dehydrogenation catalyst were systematically summarized from the perspectives of controlling the active sites of the catalyst and modifying the support. Finally, the future development prospects of propane dehydrogenation catalysts were discussed, and it was pointed out that the precise design of platinum-based catalyst structures based on reaction mechanisms and development of new alternative platinum-based catalysts were important directions in the research of propane dehydrogenation process, providing new ideas for further industrial application of propane dehydrogenation to propylene.
