Au-Pd/ZrO2 supported bimetallic nanocatalysts were prepared by the reduction method of NaBH4.The structure, absorbance, particle size and morphology of the catalysts were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(UV-vis DRS) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) etc..The results indicated that the Au and Pd were loaded on ZrO2 successfully, and Au and Pa were uniformly dispersed as spherical particles.Under visible light irradiation, the suitable conditions were studied for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde by Au-Pd/ZrO2 bimetallic nanocatalysts. The experiment results showed that the best yield of oxidation preparing benzaldehyde by benzyl al-cohol was obtained, under the conditions as follows:visible light irradiation, reaction time of 12 h,reaction temperature of (35±3) ℃,isopropanol of 5.0 mL as the solvent,Au-Pd(2:1)/ZrO2 of 50 mg as the catalyst and NaOH of 1.0 mmol as the basic source.
