Abstract: Pb/ZSM-5 was the most widely applied catalyst in synthesizing the pyridine in industry. The aldehyde ammonia condensation reaction on lead/alumina (Pb/Al2O3) catalyst was studied.Effects of reaction parameters, such as different Al2O3 carrier,b loading amount;calcination temperature of catalyst on catalytic performances were investigated and the Pb/Al2O3 catalyst was characterized by XRD.The results showed that the optimum conditions were:Al2O3&nbsp; carrier′s specific surface was 170~185 m2/g;pore volume was 1.6~2.0 cm3/g;and average pore size was 34 nm;loading amount of Pb was 2.5%~4.0% (mass fraction);and calcination temperature of catalyst was 500~550 ℃.Under these conditions the performances of the prepared catalyst were the best and the yield of alkylpyridine could reach 90%.<BR>
