Abstract: Iron is the key impurity element effecting the quality of aluminum sulfate.Along with the resources shortage and grade decline, how to remove the iron efficiently and lower the cost is very important in producing aluminum sulfate and in using the low grade ore.Base on the iron removing technology with active MnO2;nonferrous aluminum sulfate was produced in this paper, with the aluminum sulfate ferrous produced by sulfuric acid and alumyte as raw material, after the procedures of alkaline adjustment; iron removing and separation.Furthermore,a 5 000 t/a production line have been built. The optimum process conditions to get the best iron removing effect were found,i.e.control the alkalinity of aluminum sulfate at 3.0 g/L,amount-of-substance ratio of MnO2/Fe at (2∶1)~(4∶1),the temperature at about 90 ℃ and the adsorption coprecipitation time about 30 min.It has been proved that iron removing with active MnO2 in nonferrous aluminum sulfate production is feasible. The products are fully in accord with the industrial aluminum sulfate standard HG/T 2225—2000 and the production method is simple, easy to control, low in cost and has a very good economical benefit. <BR>
