Abstract: The research actuality of superfine silica white both in China and abroad was reviewed.It was indicated that the output of silica white in China increased rapidly in these years，but some top great special nano-sized silica white still needed to be imported.Therefore,it is quite urgent to start the research on the high quality silica white.The structure and form of silica white as well as its various kinds of preparation methods,such as gas phase method,precipitation method,non-metallic ore method and comprehensive utilization method (with the by-products from the industry and agriculture as the raw materials) etc.were introduced in detail in this paper.The application of silica white in the fields of rubber,paint,toothpaste and other industries was introduced comprehensively.In addition,the development prospect of silica white was predicted and it was also pointed out that the development of correlative industries could be promoted by strengthening the foundation and application study of silica white，ameliorating technologies,improving product quality and producing series products.<BR>
