Abstract: Development status of chromium industry in China  and abroad in the near 20 years was introduced.According to the problems in chromium salt production in China at present，it′s suggested that new processes，new techniques，and new products should be developed and new applications of current products should be explored by the chromium enterprises on the premise of keeping the basic balance of supply and demand.The overview mainly included 3 aspects：1）To expand the application scope of current products (including producing oxidation products by using hexavalent chromiums and expanding the application scope of chromic anhydride etc.）；2） To develop new species for current chromic compounds（fairly soluble chromium hydroxide and fairly soluble chromium carbonate etc.）；3）To develop new chromic compounds（bioactive organic chromic compounds，sodium chromite，copper chromate，basic copper chromate，and copper chromite etc.）.The direction for the chromium industry development was pointed out.
