Abstract: The effect of different nickel sources on the Ni3(BO32 product was discussed. It was ultimately determined that NiCO3·2Ni(OH)2·4H2O as the nickel source reacted stoichiometrically with H3BO3 to obtain Ni3(BO32 at lower temperature. The structure and morphology of products were characterized by XRD,IR spectra, and SEM.XRD and IR analysis results showed that pure orthorhombic structured Ni3(BO32 were synthesized by which the basic nickel carbonate(as the nickel source) and boric acid were only calcined at 700 ℃ for 3 h according to a stoichiometrical ratio.SEM result showed that the as-prepared powders exhibited good dispersion, and a uniform particle size distribution of 200~250 nm in the absent of organic solvents.

Key words: basic nickel carbonate, solid-state method at low temperature, nickel borate
