Abstract: Reverse microemulsion system was made via employing an aqueous solution of FeSO4·7H2O as dispersed phase (water phase), cyclohexane as continuous phase(oil phase),acrylamide(AM),and methyl methacrylate(MMA) as monomers, octyl phenyl poly(ethylene oxide)-10 (OP-10) as emolsifier,as well as ammonium persulfate (APS) as initiator. The system reaction has been initiated by heating to prepare magnetic γ-Fe2O3/P(MMA-AM) nanocomposites. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscope(TEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Results showed that copolymer occurred from the MMA monomer and AM;γ-Fe2O3 particles dispersed in high molecular polymers, then the product was γ-Fe2O3/P(MMA-AM).The optimum conditions for synthesizing magnetic γ-Fe2O3/P(MMA-AM)nanocomposites were as follows: oil to water volume ratio was 1∶3,c(Fe2+)=0.4 mol/L,and monomer content was 7% (mass fraction).
