A new technology for flash-calcining paigeite

Abstract: When paigeite was used as raw material to produce borate products,iron ore concentrate is usually to be se-parated at first,and then boracic tailing is processed into boron concentrate powder.However,in order to enhance boron trioxide activity,boron ore must be calcined when alkali method is applied to process it.Through combination of pre-drying and activated calcination,a new flash calcination technology for low-grade paigeite was put forward according to the main problems of hard-controlling technological conditions and bad activity of calcined ore in activated calcination process for borate by paigeite.The technology was evaluated comprehensively on the basis of laboratory testing and industrial production and proposals were also put forward for improving its deficiencies.This technolgoy is feasible and efficient,and the activation rate of paigeite can be increased to 85%~90% under a certain grade.
