Synthesis progress of nano-sized ferric oxide

Abstract: Iron oxide red (α-Fe2O3)  exhibits many excellent properties,such as non-toxicity,and weather,temperature,acid,alkali,and ultraviolet resistance.When it is on nano-scale,the tinting strength,transparence,and chroma can be improved greatly.Thus nano-sized iron oxide red has a large demand in coating,printing,and papermaking industries.Synthesis methods of nano-sized iron oxide red,such as oxidizing precipitation method,colloid chemical method,hydrothermal method,and hydrolysis methods,were introduced,and advantages and disadvantages of these methods were also analyzed in detail.Then the future research orientation,such as improving the dispersity of nano-sizediron oxide red and preparing nano-sizediron oxide red with low cost and high efficiency,was pointed out.
