Preparation of dispersive magnesium hydroxide via hydrothermal modification of active magnesium hydroxide

Abstract: Preparation of high dispersive magnesium hydroxide plates with uniform morphology via hydrothermal modification of active magnesium hydroxide route was investigated.The influence of process parameters including the sintering and hydration on the properties of activated magnesium hydroxide and the law for preparing dispersive magnesium hydroxide via the hydrothermal modification of active magnesium hydroxide were studied.The hydrothermal products were characterized by scanning electronic microscope(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),nitrogen absorption BET analyzer,and laser particle size instrument.It was indicated that the agglomerated industrial magnesium hydroxide was converted into the active magnesium hydroxide fine particles after sintering followed by hydration in the low temperature.The high dispersive magnesium hydroxide plates with uniform morphology were produced after hydrothermal treatment of the active magnesium hydroxide at moderate hydrothermal condition.
