Abstract: Fe doped ZnO nano-powders were prepared by precipitation method. The Fe/ZnO sample and its precursor were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD) and infrared absorption spectroscopy(IR).The effect of photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes were determined by spectrophotometer, and the surface morphology of the samples were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).Experimental results showed that Fe doped ZnO catalysts had the higher degradation rates for the methyl orange(MO) and methylene blue(MB) than that of pure ZnO,which was attributed to effects of the iron introduction.Fe-doping into ZnO could change the surface character of primary nanoparticles, and inhibited the particle agglomeration,so as to contact with organic dyes extensively during the degradation. These characteristics make the Fe doped ZnO to be promising candidate for the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes.
