Abstract: PEG-molybdenum hybrid materials with various morphologies and polymorphs were synthesized by hydrolyzing of molybdenum precursor obtained from hydrogen peroxide and molybdenum powder as raw materials in the presence of polyethylene glycol(PEG) solutions, and molybdenum oxides with various morphologies and polymorphs were prepared by calcination of PEG-molybdenum.The influences of factors, such as PEG concentration and relative molecular mass on the morphologies of PEG-molybdenum hybrid materials and the influences of the calcination temperature and calcination atmosphere on the morphologies and structure of molybdenum oxides were investigated in detail. The morphologies, structure, and composition of the as-prepared products were characterized with SEM,XRD,FT-IR,EDS,and DSC etc..The results showed that PEG polymer having a significant effect and induction on the structure and morphology of molybdenum oxide crystals, and the change of preparing conditions of reaction system, resulting in the transformation of hexagonal prism, nanowire, sphere, and cube of molybdenum oxides.
